This was wonderful. I liked grumpy Jensen and not-perfect Jared. You wrote the baseball well - you really understand the game. I liked the quote in the beginning of your story - I forwarded it to my husband (a rabid Yankee fan). Unfortunately, I am a Red Sox fan so baseball isn't always enjoyable so I liked your story. Thanks!

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed the story and the Angell quote.

(I also have tons of affection for the Red Sox - they're kind of my C team, behind the Cubs and the Rockies. As you can probably tell, many of Jensen's lines in the story were verbatim Josh Beckett quotes.)

This was absolutely, totally lovely. I'm tempted to quote back especially wonderful sections, but suffice it to say that Jared's and Jensen's dynamic felt exceptionally authentic and warm. Also? They weren't super-mega-ultra-stars, and I LOVED that! It made their ups and down so much relatable, and well, tender.

Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this! :)

And it's outta there!
"The fans are gonna build a statue of you just so they can set it the fuck on fire. They're gonna stomp on it and your talentless ashes are gonna get all over everyone's shoes."

Absolutely one of the best 2009 Big Bangs I've read. And that line?

*points up*

I'm still laughing, wondering (and praying) that there will ever, in my life to come, be a time where I can actually use it conversationally.

I loved the way you handled all the characters, including the game we know as America's pastime. I especially loved the way Jensen handled the reveal about Jared's contract. His response appeared so out-of-character, yet came across so genuinely real that it made me misty.

Congratulations on writing a hugely enjoyable story for us greedy SPN J2 readers. Please, please keep it up.

One For the Good Guys
Jared would find him napping later. After a while, instead of complaining about it, he started finding exciting ways to wake Jensen up. Splashing water on him was obvious but produced a furious-wet-cat effect that Jared never got tired of.

HA! Just picturing it, I'm not sure I'd get tired of it either, and I can imagine his glee at devising new methods of torture. I loved the first chapter, it really set the stage.

This was an interesting read for me as I'm quite uninformed about baseball. (My roommate know a little bit about it and was able to enlighten me a little :D).

I really liked how Jared managed to get under Jensen's skin. And I enjoyed the story as a whole.

This was awesome! Baseball bores me to tears, but I really loved the way you used as the backdrop for your story. Jensen was so adorable- snarky and mouthy and mean, and yet afraid of thunderstorms. So cute! And I loved how Jared handled his attitude, whether it was ignoring it or riling him up. Awesome. <3

This was an amazing story; I loved how Jensen remained a snarky sonofabitch even while falling in love, and I also loved how there wasn't the requisite break-up when Jensen found out about Jared's contract. Very realistic and true and I enjoyed every word of it. Friending you, if you don't mind. I'd love to keep up-to-date on your work.

Great job!

Thank you so much! I'm very glad you enjoyed the fic. I should probably add that I'm pretty much off of lj for the time being, but I'm flattered anyway. :)

Ah, lovely. And a Brit who doesn't care about baseball, but you made me love this anyway, and kinda wish I did care about baseball. Snarky!Jensen was AWESOME, I love bitchy characters, and I love that he was still bitchy at the end, even when he was happy.

This was a lot of fun. Even, or perhaps especially when Jensen is being an ass.

On a more depressing note, its easy to see a professional athlete coming into the final stretch of his career become a bit bitter and desperately unhappy because they've probably spent their entire life (and definitely their career) in the closet, unable to have a life or a partner or be happy.

But I'd rather revel in how fun this was and the wonderful way the boys went from adversaries to sorta friends to lovers and partners. Because that's all kinds of YEAH!!!

And now if you'll excuse me, my poor beleaguered Cub are on TV and they're actually winning (at least for now)

Well, I am always especially pleased to get comments on this from fellow Cubs fans. :) Thank you very much, and I'm glad you enjoyed the fic.
